New Finish Line Technology at Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival

Following BHA approval and the subsequent appraisal of the new reverse angle photo finish camera at racing festivals earlier in the year, RaceTech and York Racecourse are very pleased to announce the photofinish technology will be in use throughout the Welcome to Yorkshire Ebor Festival.

The technology has been highly acclaimed by officials and is particularly useful for the judge when deciphering close finishes on the nearside of a wider style of track and will therefore lend itself well to races on the Knavesmire. The new reverse angle pictures capture a clearer image of the horses from the nearside and is used in conjunction with the standard mirror image. Both images will be published on the BHA website following each race as part of any official photofinish.

Anthea Morshead Clerk of the Course at York said, “We are always keen to explore new technologies to see if they can improve the experience of racing from York. As a long standing partner of RaceTech, this will be a further enhancement provided by them.”

John Bozza CEO at RaceTech said, “RaceTech is delighted the newly developed technology is proving so successful and we are particularly pleased that York have decided to make use of it at the prestigious Ebor Festival. We continue to work with the BHA and our stakeholders to keep racing at the forefront of technological solutions.”

The BHA are continuing to collaborate with the RCA on how a phased introduction of this technology can progress across the racecourse network.
