Operations is the engine room at head office, handling all of the logistics and facilities that are constantly on the move throughout the year. It isn’t just the equipment and operators that are scheduled on a daily basis, their work includes the commentators and a fleet of vehicles that support the raceday operation and installations business.
With an asset of over £15 million of broadcast equipment, it is imperative to utilise the kit as much as is technically possible, taking into account the need for essential servicing and maintenance and the pressures of the fixture list. RaceTech services all fixtures using our own OB unit scanners, with the High Definition trucks working flat out in the summer.
In addition, RaceTech operates and runs a supporting fleet of 74 vehicles, 7 trailers and 3 generators, tenders, crew buses, Standard Definition scanners and Land Rovers, many of which require HGV licenced drivers and are subject to DVSA laws regarding driving hours, emissions and congestion charges.
Logistics are managed by the office based operations team, who also co-ordinate the substantial amounts of paperwork associated with running such a large fleet, as well as the human resources required for each raceday – cameramen, engineers, PA and Photofinish operators, directors, and of course, the commentators, who are all booked and co-ordinated via RaceTech for every race meeting in the country.
Whilst we use a core team of employees, we supplement where appropriate from a pool of trusted and trained freelancers, to provide a seamless service at optimum cost.
