RaceTech to provide full outside broadcast services at Chelmsford City Racecourse

 

RaceTech, the leading provider of a wide range of broadcast facilities and integrity services to the UK’s horse racing industry, is delighted to announce it is to provide Chelmsford City Racecourse with Outside Broadcast and Integrity Services from 1st October, 2017.

RaceTech and Chelmsford City Racecourse are not strangers, RaceTech having provided starting stall services to the Essex venue since its opening in January 2015.

The popular floodlit Essex venue regularly hosts fifty plus fixtures per year on its polytrack surface alongside stylish entertainment and many non-raceday events. With an excellent race programme and generous prize money, the course attracts quality horses from leading trainers and is supported by top jockeys throughout the year.

Joe Scanlon, Chairman of Chelmsford City Racecourse said, “ CCR is an ambitious racetrack and expects its race program to continue to grow over the next few years, with multiple codes being embraced. SIS the current provider has done a tremendous job in our initial years, however it was always CCR’s plan to take control of its broadcast solution, as we look forward to a more diverse program, and the growing stature of the track.”

Our dear friend and colleague Stephen Yarborough

Following a tragic accident on Friday 21st July, 2017 our dear friend and colleague Stephen Yarborough sadly passed away following serious injuries incurred in his role of Team Leader of the Starting Stalls at Haydock Park Racecourse.

John Bozza, CEO at RaceTech expressed his shock and sympathy saying “Our thoughts are very much with Stephen’s family, close friends and his colleagues at this very sad time.  Stephen was an experienced and popular member of the team; he will be hugely missed by everyone. We are doing all we can to support Stephen’s family and the investigation at this stage”.

Stephen 60, came from Great Habton, Nr Malton, and is originally from Grimsby, Yorkshire.  He leaves a son Christopher, daughter Sheridan and two grandchildren.

Both Stephen’s family and RaceTech are grateful for all the support shown by the wider racing community.  This tragic event has dented the hearts of so many who wish to express their sadness and support to Steve’s family and close colleagues as well as gratitude to the many unsung heroes across our sport.
